What's in my Makeup Bag...

I don't actually bring around a makeup bag with me most of the time. On regular days I never touch up my makeup once I step out of the house...ever. Unless I know I've got somewhere to go after (party/event/dinner etc), then I'll grab my makeup bag and chuck it in my purse.

For most of the time, my makeup bag (bottom left corner in the pic) sits open atop my "makeup island", a stack of empty plastic storage boxes in the middle of my room on top of which I put lots of my make up stuff...because it's near my cupboard, which has the mirror I use to look at.

Anyway, inside my makeup bag are the items I use on regular days. The other items outside it aren't used as often :P

This is the makeup bag I'm currently using, I got it at SBY Happy Room in Takeshita Doori last year. I love how it has 2 zippers! So that I can open it from the top instead of the side, which you're restricted to for makeup pouches with only 1 zipper.

Underneath the paisley print cloth is a layer of gold sequins!
It's subtle but really pretty in real life!

The interior is lined with gold fabric, and is pretty roomy!
It also has an interior pocket; useful for storing smaller/thinner items like tweezers and eyeliners.

So, onto the stuff inside!

SKINCARE/BASE
SKII Facial Treatment Essence: This is *AMAZING* ♥♥ I started using it about a month ago, it made my skin so much more radiant and even. It really is a "miracle water". Now I can walk out of the house with just sunblock, yay better skin!
Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50+ PA++, sunblock is the most important thing to slap on before stepping out of the house. This dries matte, and it's my absolute favorite sunblock. My 4th bottle! ♥

BRUSHES
Chasty Eyebrow Brush: Got this in Japan, the bristles are really dense and blend the brow colors well. Chasty makes really great makeup accessories!
MAC 187E: From a holiday set a few years ago, love using it for blushes. It really distributes the color well.
Sigma Flat Top Kabuki F80: I *adore* this for BB cream/liquid foundation. The bristles are so dense that it spreads the foundation sooo evenly, and the finish is so smooth it looks airbrushed! ♥

BASE MAKEUP
Candy Doll Concealer: Don't really use it much as I don't think I've got anything to conceal^^ But it does a decent job at covering up the occasional red spot. It's the only concealer I've got, hence it's in the bag.
Dr Jart Silver Label: Dr Jart is my favorite brand of BB cream, been using it for 4 years, alternating between the silver and black labels. 3rd full-sized tube of Dr Jart BB Cream!
Candy Doll Makeup Base: I use this when I don't feel like wearing foundation/BB cream. It has a subtle shimmer/pearly gloss effect!
Dr Jart Black Label: Love this, plus it's mini and super convenient to grab and chuck into my purse.

BLUSHES
Jill Stuart Blush Blossom 101 Sensual Dahlia: From the 2010 holiday collection, love the colors.
Jill Stuart Mixed Blush Compact 01 Baby Blush: One of my absolute favorite blushes ever. This is my second piece, I finished one last year^^
NARS Orgasm: Love this, it evokes a really natural flush ♥
Majolica Majorca Cheek Customize OR322: Favorite peachy blush.

CONTOURING
Canmake Shading Powder 01: My 2nd piece, finished one last year. Don't use it very often now, but it's great for contouring the nose/brow/cheekbones as it's matte and really blendable.
Canmake Nose Shadow Powder: Made specifically for contouring the nose, it has a shader and a highlighter. But...I've never used the highlighter, and I've always wondered why the highlighter portion is twice as large as the shader portion :(

EYELINER
I have waaaay more eyeliners than these, but these are the everyday ones, hence all black and brown. K-palette and Urban Decay are my favorite brands for eyeliners :P From the bottom:
K-Palette Real Lasting Eyepencil 24h
K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24h WP in Brown: Love brown eyeliners, they're really natural and don't look harsh!♥ K-Palette's Eyeliners are super sharp, precise and gives me the line I want ♥
K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24h WP in Black: This is practically finished, I guess I can't bear to throw it out yet cos of the pretty Limited Edition PINK packaging^^
Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner in Deep Black: My current substitute for the K-Palette black liner, but it's not waterproof!
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Bourbon: I love this, it's my 4th pencil! ♥
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Midnight Cowboy: Great for highlighting, the slight champagne color blends in with the skin more.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Perversion: Super black and super matter; amazing on the waterline! ♥

Swatches.

EYEBROWS
Different colors to match different hair colors, and different colors give different looks. Bottom to top:
Majolica Majorca Brow Customize: I use this most of the time, I've refilled over 10 times! ♥
Bibo Eyeful Eyebrow 5 Amber Brown: This is the 2nd lightest shade after 6 Light Brown, the difference is a lot!
Bibo Eyeful Eyebrow 6 Light Brown: Super light. Too light for me now, but perfect for when my hair was lighter. Apparently most gyarus use this color.
Essence Eyebrow Designer 03 Light Brown: Tried it cos it was cheap, $3? But it's not waterproof and smudges off easily.
Essence Eyebrow Designer 02 Brown: Tried it cos it was cheap, $3? But it's not waterproof and smudges off easily.
Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Coloring Eyebrow 01: This works better with bleached eyebrows, easy to use and keeps the brows in shape. However it tends to look funny when eyebrows are black.

Close-up.

ETC
Dolly Wink Long Mascara: For lower lashes!
D.U.P. Eyelashes Fixer EX 552 Clear: Good for heavy duty/days you need extra strength (outdoors/sports/water/rain?)
Dolly Wink Eyelash Fix Black: Newly released, it's so convenient for when I use black eyeliner/black lashes.
Dolly Wink Eyelash Fix: Absolutely adore this, it's my 5th tube! ♥

This can't fit into the makeup bag, but I use it everyday to set my foundation/BB cream. Guerlain Meteorites ♥ I love this! It makes skin look really good, reflecting light in all the right places.

Who says it's impossible to finish? Took me about 2 years to get here, but for the 1st year I wasn't using it much. Only in the 2nd year did I start using it daily.

Other than my "makeup island", this is the other corner of the room where I have all my makeup stuff, mostly hidden inside the makeup bag and pink baskets. (there's another pink basket hidden under the makeup bag under the headbands). Stacked in the shelves are sheet masks! I use the items on the "island" more, the ones here aren't used as often.

Inside the basket about to fall off the dresser.
Left to right: Paul & Joe, YSL + Macquillage, misc.

Most used eyeshadow palettes:
Urban Decay Naked
Urban Decay Naked 2
Guerlain Ecrin 6 Couleurs 68 Champs-Elysees

I realize that lip stuff aren't shown above, most of them are stored in the cup on the "island", hidden behind the brushes. Also, most of the lipsticks/glosses I use are in all my different purses...I don't usually put on lip stuff at home^^ Only before/after I reach my destination (if I remember to!), and I hardly touch up either...

Obviously I don't use every single item everyday^^ If I narrowed it down, the things definitely used everyday are 1) sunblock, 2) brow pencil, 3) eyeliner. Oh and EYELASHES! ♥

Nowadays I'm tending to use less because I have to get up early for work and want more sleep :( Also, makeup for work is restrictive. (The only thing I'm not compromising on are my eyelashes!!) I really miss the days when I had more time to play and experiment with more makeup! Anyway, 5 weeks to freedom! More time for makeup fun and cosmetics shopping then!

What are your most used makeup items? And what do feel that you need to have on before stepping out of the house?

-----------------------------------
*update*
Hidden on the "island":
Blushes, eyeshadow palettes, Hadalabo BB cream, lash glues.

More blushes.
Majolica Majorca, Banila Co, Diamond Beauty.

Eyeliner pencils.
Mostly Urban Decay, Majolica Majorca or Essence.

Eyeshadow palettes and bronzer, from Essence.

I still have a cabinet shelf of mostly old BB creams/samples, and another for all my lashes, but that's *all* the cosmetics I own! They're either on the "island", the corner, or on that one shelf. Not a lot!

    1. I didn't find out till late last year, sooo wasted! Only have... omamori from each temple/shrine I've visited T_T Shuin are gorgeous to look at! Planning to get at least 2 in Kyoto, been looking up which temples/shrines have nice goshuinchous :X Though it's a bit sad in that all the shuin I accumulate will all be from Kansai temples/shrines, within the same week :(
