Anessa Face Sunscreen BB SPF50+ PA+++

Because my Too Cool For School Blending Cream BB was almost finished, I started trying the Anessa Face Sunscreen BB which I bought in Yokohama last September. I can't believe I took so long to start on it, just one use and it became my current favorite BB cream!

Anessa is made by Shiseido, and is famous for their sunscreens, which have ranked high on cosme.net for many years. I initially wanted to only try the sunscreen, but while I was in Donki I saw the BB cream next to it and thought, why not try it out, since I haven't tried many Japanese BB creams other than Hadalabo's.

I love Donki, because I can spend hours browsing the cosmetics section^^ Lots of items are discounted too, for example the sunscreen was about 1790yen, while the BB cream was 2000yen. The retail price is around 3150yen for the sunscreen and 2520yen for the BB cream. Anyway, I had to try both

There was a promotion for the sunscreens, whereby there was an extra mini 12ml bottle of a different sunscreen. I got the Perfect Essence Sunscreen SPF50+ PA+++, and it came with a mini bottle of the Perfect UV Sunscreen SPF50+ PA+++. (I just checked their website, in February 2013 a new formula has been rolled out for all the sunscreens, they now offer PA++++! Even more sun protection, hurray~)

The Too Cool For School BB cream had no SPF, so I'd always use the Perfect Essence Sunscreen under. It's my favorite sunscreen, because it's very fluid like essence/serum, non-sticky and is easily absorbed. I haven't tried the Perfect UV one, though it's recommended for activities like sports, going up the mountains/going to the sea, and it's waterproof too.

Onto the BB cream! I like how the underside of the cap is solid instead of being empty like most screw-cap cosmetics. There's 30g of product and its main function is actually to act as a suncreen. There are two colors - Light and Natural - but at Donki I only saw Natural, so that's what I got. The Anessa Face Sunscreen BB is actually more like a tinted moisturizer than a BB cream, with high sun protection.

Ingredients and benefits.

Main benefits:
★ High UV protection - protects delicate skin against sunburn and sun damage
★ Moisturizing - contains hyaluronic acid and collagen
★ Covers pores
★ Corrects skin tone
★ Can be used as a make up base or as a foundation
★ Resistant to sweat and sebum

Oiliness test.
It's very non-oily, which works great in Singapore's humidity.
It's also very light, so my face doesn't feel like it's smothered by cream :D

I don't know what to call this test, but just wanted to show that it doesn't "melt" or fall off after contact with the environment, or that the more liquid components won't sink to the bottom and cause the blob to fall off the paper?

Consistency test.
It's lightweight and very creamy, but spreads easily and blends into skin without difficulty.
I have a preference for creamier BB creams, because for me thinner BB creams tend to streak...

Color/blending.
The Anessa Face Sunscreen BB is actually a lot darker than most BB creams I've seen, but over time it blends into my skin. The main function is to act as a sunscreen, and it's made to have a "natural" color. Despite claiming to be more for sun protection than makeup, the BB cream's coverage is medium and is buildable, and it's pretty decent at covering redness and evening skintone

The BB cream dries semi-matte, which is my preferred type of finish  ε(๑^ᴗ^๑)з

When I use this I do not top it off with loose powder, because it sets pretty well. And after 10hours of wear it still stays in place, and doesn't melt or streak. For me, this is a great BB cream, perfect for Singapore's humid weather. It's also lightweight, blends very well and looks natural, and the finish is semi-matte and non-oily ♥

I have combination skin and live in extremely humid and warm weather, and I really like the texture of this BB cream. However, for people living in temperate climates of have dry skin, I think you might find this a bit drying?

June's Little Black Beauty Box: The Asia Style Collection Box ★

One of the newer beauty subscription boxes around, I think The Little Black Beauty Box has the most gorgeous box, the box really looks like a book! It even opens like a book. After taking out the items I'm using it as decoration hehehe. The June box is the 4th box, and the theme is Asia Style Collection.

The Little Black Beauty Box is a project by Sharon Au; a collaboration between Mediacorp's StyleXStyle and the department store Robinsons. For S$19.90, it's a steal! However the boxes are made in very limited quantities each month, and they're always sold out! (*´д`*) Been wanting to get it but April's was sold out, May's was sold out...thank goodness I was able to get this!

The bottom of the super gorgeous box, it really looks like a book!
Even the side/spine has words that  make it like a book.
The items are neatly packed inside with crepe paper.

Info card introducing the theme of the box, and behind it is a checklist of offers from participating brands.
Sadly the box does not come with a card listing the items in the box...

All the items in the box.
Quite a generous variety and quantity, don't you think so?
Plus many of the items are newly launched ♡

Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion SPF50+ PA+++
Been wanting to try the BB cushion, because the texture seems so unusual! (*´ω`*)♪
FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil
Kose Sekkisei Sun Protect Gel SPF50 PA+++
Forgot to take a close up photo for Kose!

So many masks!

Shiseido Perfect UV Protector SPF50+ PA+++
Sebamed Feminine Intimate Wash

Anna Sui Secret Wish perfume sample

Kinohimitsu Collagen Drink
It actually tastes kinda nice chilled! It has a fruity flavor to mask the taste of the collagen. I've previously bought collagen powder from Japan, but stopped taking it after a few cups because the taste of the collagen was to strong for me... (*´д`*)
Redoxon Anti-oxidant tablets

If you're interested, the themes of the boxes so far:

klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream SPF 40 PA++

I love trying different BB creams and foundations, and something I recently added to my stash is the klairs Illuminating Supple Blemish Cream SPF 40, PA++. I've read many positive reviews of older klairs items by Korean bloggers in the past, but I've never tried the brand because it's difficult to get outside of Korea...It wasn't even available on Gmarket Korea (´Д`)

Packaging.
First impression: I love the minimalist packaging, it looks very chic. The long tube shape also feels nice to hold it in my hands ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

This product can be used by both women and men,
check out the video of Tay applying the BB cream and other makeup on her boss, Eddie!

The opening of the tube is long and narrow,
which allows for good control of the amount of product you want to get.

This BB cream's main functions are:
✿ SPF40 PA++
✿ Whitening
✿ Wrinkle care
✿ Sebum control
All functions are certified by the KFDA (Korean Food and Drug Administration).

Details/information on the packaging.
The BB cream is made in Korea, and expires 12 months after opening.

Great news for non-Korean speakers/readers, they have English instructions and ingredients list on their packaging, and it's proper English not Engrish^^ They even leave an email address for you to report adverse reactions, very thoughtful.

For people with sensitive skin who might be worried about the suitability of the product, here's some information about klairs products in general (not just the BB cream):
☆ Low-irritation cosmetics specialized for sensitive/troubled skin.
☆ Collaboration with professional dermatologic cosmetics
☆ No alcohol
☆ No animal testing
☆ No paraben
☆ No artificial coloring
☆ Eco-friendly
☆ Minimal fragrance

The tube.
The first time I've seen BB cream come in a tube like this, it really reminds me of a toothpaste tube! But I love the long design, personally it's more convenient and aesthetically pleasing to me^^ Plus there's the line "You look so wonderful just the way you are", which is always nice to see when I pick up the tube to use it.

klairs' recommended instructions on how to apply, I'm sorry if my translation are a bit off!
For me I do step 1, apply dots on my cheeks, nose, forehead, chin, then use the Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush to blend everything on.

Oiliness test:
It's not as oily as the ElishaCoy CC Cream, so this would be suitable for daily use in tropical weather countries like Singapore. It's not very dry , and would be great for ladies working in an air-conditioned environment. If you don't work indoors, I would set this with loose powder because it does tend to melt after a few hours of wear outdoors...

Consistency test:  It's quite thick and creamy, but is non-sticky and blends into skin easily.

Personally, I prefer creamier BB creams because they blend easier on my skin and end up less streaky. Streakiness is a problem I encounter with products having thinner consistencies...anyone else face the same problem? Although the klairs BB cream has a thick consistency, it doesn't cake and it blends well into my skin.

Coverage comparison.
The BB cream has buildable light-medium coverage and leaves a dewy glow.

It can cover some freckles and redness, but not totally, so you might need extra concealer if you have a lot of redness. The product has a smooth, dewy finish, and if you work in an air-conditioned environment you can probably forgo loose powder when using this.

Right now WISHtrend.com has the klairs BB cream on offer at a 20% discount, going for USD18.50.
I don't know how long the offer will last, but the regular price is USD22.99.

Some of klairs' other bestsellers are the Rich Moist Soothing Cream and Rich Moist Soothing Serum.
I've read lots of Korean reviews on these^^

But the item that totally caught my eye was the CHERRY BLOSSOM AND ROSE FACIAL MIST
http://www.wishtrend.com/toner-mist/262--klairs-essential-facial-mist-cherry-blossom-rose.html

Almost all my Korean friends carry around some sort of facial mist to refresh their faces throughout the day.  Feels really good to spray ♡ I used to use Avene's Thermal Water, but now I'm currently using Innisfree Green Tea Mineral Mist (smells great!) and Hanskin Hyaluron Facial Mist.

Anyway, you can use the code "RFXLSCOZ" at checkout for a USD3 voucher.
Minimum USD20 order
- Expires end of 2013
- Can combine with other vouchers

If you live in Singapore, WISHTrend also has a Qoo10/Gmarket shop to cater to Singaporeans. They've narrowed the selection to their more popular items, so not everything on the WISHTrend website will be there. But they often have promotions and special deals, so the prices come up less than the main site prices.

Too Cool For School Twin Color Eye Crayons ★

One of my favorite Too Cool For School products, the Twin Color Eye Crayons!  There are 5 color combinations available, and I got 4. Each crayon is supposed to have a "base" color and "main" color, though I don't actually use them like that. To me they're like 2 "main colors". So I have 8 colors in total!

Each crayon retails for 12,000won, and they each come adorably packaged in a triangular prismy brown paper box

The "base color" ends: #3 Gold Beige, #1 White Pink, #2 Pearly Red and #5 Metallic Grey

The "main color" ends: #3 Warm Green, #1 Dark Purple, #2 Pearly Brown and #5 Dark Navy.
I actually prefer the colors of these ends to the "base" ends!

The Eye Crayons are soooo smooth and creamy, and go on like a dream. They're all extremely pigmented and pearly, and are super easy to blend. My only complaint is that since they're so thick, they're hard to use as eyeliner at the outer corners, especially if you want to make sharp edges or cat eyes. So I use these as color eyeliners/eyeshadow, and use a black liquid/pen liner over it because I like sharp-edged eyeliner.

I don't think the Eye Crayons fit regular sharpeners, you have to get the sharpener from Too Cool For School. The Eye Crayons are the same thickness as the Lip Crayons, so the sharpener is the same, but for hygiene purposes I bought two sharpeners, one for the lip crayons and one for the eye crayons.

#1 White Pink + Dark Purple
My favorite crayon of the lot, because the dark purple is my absolute favorite color! I don't know why it seems more brownish/maroon in the photos, but the actually color is really more like the crayon than the swatch. The White Pink is a very sweet color, and looks like the "without flash" color, though slightly more pink in real life.

#2 Pearly Red + Pearly Brown
For this it's the opposite, the color of the pearly brown is actually more like the swatch than the crayon.

#3 Warm Green + Gold Beige
I didn't buy this at first, but after leaving Seoul I kept thinking about the green and how unique it looked, so I asked my friend to help me get it^^ I like using the gold beige for highlighting the inner corners of the eyes, it's not too white and doesn't have huge glitter chunks.

#5 Dark Navy + Metallic Grey
I really like the navy!
I like the Metallic Grey too, though I think I'd like it even more if it were slightly darker?

These were part of my Too Cool For School haul from Seoul last year.
Other posts on Too Cool For School stuff:

I don't think I can describe how much I love Too Cool For School! I love the fun, quirky designs of the products, they're definitely an unconventional cute, but cute nonetheless and oh-so-fun! And the products themselves are amazing ♥♥ The Blending BB Cream is one of my absolute favorite products from Too Cool For School, and so is the Lip Tint~

Albion Skin Conditioner Essential ♥

Working like medicated toners/lotions, skin conditioners are an amazing invention! Been using the Hadalabo Skin Conditioner on-and-off since 2011, when I totally hoarded it. (Good decision, it's still not available in Singapore).

The most well-known skin conditioner is the one made by Albion, their Skin Conditioner Essential, and it's so famous that when people say スキコン (ski-con), they mean the Albion one. I've been wanting to try it for a long time, finally got it, and ohemgee the wonders it has done so far!  My skin has become noticeably clearer and smoother, the redness has reduced, pores have become smaller, and dehydration lines have disappeared. This is really amazing...plus it smells wonderful too! ♥

The bottle and the box. Apparently the basic packaging hasn't changed since the introduction of the product in 1974...which is why the packaging and font kinda look old-fashioned. Up till a few years ago I only ever knew Albion as the company that made Paul & Joe cosmetics (I love Paul & Joe, their packaging is sooo floral and pretty and the quality is great. It was like "the" Jill Stuart before Jill Stuart started). A stark contrast in image, but because of the prestige/ history of the product, I guess the "trusted" old-fashioned image sells.

The effects of the skin conditioner:
★ 肌荒れ・荒れ性/ Targets rough, dry skin
★ クリアな肌/ Clears skin
★ 日焼け・雪焼き後のホテリを防ぐ/ Prevents flushness after sunburn or snowburn
★ 肌を引き締める/ Tightens skin
★ ニキビを防ぐ/ Prevents pimples
★ みずみずしい肌/ Fresh, youthful skin

My awkward translation: "The skin conditioner supports the skin, and is a lotion that leads to moisturized and healthy skin. It is a lotion aiming for long-lasting, true beauty; a lotion that can be used for all seasons and ages, for whatever skin problems: to treat irritable skin, to prevent flushness from sunburn and snowburn, and to prevent skin troubles like pimples."

薬用 means for medical use/pharmaceutical, so this is kinda like a medicated toner. The product is vacuum-sealed at the top for hygiene purposes, always a plus point for me. I love products that come with sealed openings.  On the back of the bottle you have the product description, it's a lotion/toner, for sensitive skin. I got the 165ml bottle, which costs 5,000yen (5,250yen with tax) in Japan. Good news is that Albion is available in Singapore (Takashimaya Cosmetics Dept), though it costs S$82 for the 165ml bottle.

There are 3 sizes available:
110ml - 3,675yen with tax
165ml - 5,250yen with tax
330ml - 8,925yen with tax

The instructions say to use it after cleansing and emulsion/moisturizer, but I like to use it as the first step, before emulsion/moisturizer and essence/serum. I guess you could use your hands (like the Hadalabo one), but the instructions recommend pouring it generously on a cotton pad, and patting in all over your face

I love the smell, and because of the menthol there's a cooling sensation after patting the product on. It's not an extreme mentholly cooling feeling, but rather it's a nice, gradual, fresh feeling? I use the cotton method, though sometimes I'll soak a few cotton pads and leave them all over my face for about 15 minutes, kind of like a mask. The result is amazing!  The brightening effect is instantly noticeable, and right after application my face feels sooo smooth, plus the heavenly floral scent stays for awhile.

Ingredients: Dipotassium glycyrrhizate, Water, Alcohol, 1,3-Butylene glycol, Gluthathione, Witch hazel extract, Horse chestnut extract, Job's tears extract, Menthol, Carrageenan, Sesquioleate sorbitan, PEG castor oil, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Fragrance.

The product itself is milky-colored, of a very liquidy consistency. The product contains no coloring, I guess it's milky color is due to the Job's tears (鳩麦/hatomugi, similar to barley). It kind of does look like barley water, doesn't it? It smells amazing ♡ Kind of floral, kind of powdery; a very lingering, luxurious scent, I love it!  The makers were aiming for a floral bouquet scent that leaves a deep impression, and they totally nailed that! Some people might find the scent overpowering though, but for me it's a wonderful scent (´౪`)

The Albion logo, a simple AL.

The tagline for the Skin Conditioner is 365日、好き。スキコン。(Sanbyaku-rokujuu-go nichi, suki. Sukikon.) Which means "365 days, I like it. Ski-con." It's a pun hahaha.

An interesting fact about the company name: Albion is an old name for Great Britain, which derives from words meaning white and land. The company took this name because they feel that whitening/brightening is the starting point in the pursuit of feminine beauty, which is quite true for many Japanese/Korean skincare companies, as many products are created to achieve fairer and clearer skin. Fair not in the sense of white, but in the manner of glowing/translucent.

More of the pretty bottle. The Skin Conditioner Essential is Albion's star product. There's a flower embossed on the body of the bottle, it's really pretty! I know that sounds superficial, but having things with nice packaging makes me feel happier when using them (*´ω`*)♪ Isn't that the reason why so many people like Jill Stuart and Paul & Joe? But of course, the products themselves are great too, which is what makes people love them even more!

Comparing it with the Hadalabo Skin Conditioner, I absolutely LOVE the Albion one!  The smell is sooo amazing, it seems to work faster and has more visible improvements, and I like the texture/ feeling it gives more. The Hadalabo scent is a medicated scent, which I also kinda like, but the Albion scent leaves me feeling all dreamy and happy too~ ♬

Buuuut the down-side is that the Albion one (5250yen for 165ml) costs about 3 times as much as the Hadalabo one (1575yen for 170ml). However, for availability, the Hadalabo one is not available in Singapore, though the Albion one is. But, if you're young, the Hadalabo one is good enough, since you don't have that many problems when you're younger too! If you're older, indulge! Your skin will love you for it, or at least mine does ♥ Anyway, both have the same active ingredient: Dipotassium glycyrrhizate.

I cannot fully describe how amazing this skin conditioner is; I love how much clearer and more radiant my skin has become, and the bottom line is that I'd definitely repurchase this~ ♥ One bottle can last a really long time (unless you use it as a mask everyday), so it's definitely a worthy investment.

V 10 Plus, the World's 1st Skin Supplement Concept

I first came to know of V 10 Plus a few years ago, after seeing some colorful bottles on a Japanese friend's vanity desk. At that time I didn't know what they were, but the cute little colorful bottles were just so pretty, and that image of colorful vials have since stayed imprinted in my head^^ Never knew that the company's headquarters are actually in Singapore!

The whole range of V 10 Plus serums, very colorful! Evokes a sense of happiness, like when you see a rainbow~ Last month, they had a bloggers event at Spa Symphony, where they gave an introduction to the brand and explained their concept/philosophy: "Beautiful skin = clean, bright, shining skin even without makeup."

The CEO and founder of V 10 Plus, Ms Akiko Yokota was speaking to introduce the brand and their products. You'll never guess her age, her skin looks so good! The 10 points the brand emphasizes on are:
★ No parabens
★ No artificial coloring
★ No mineral oil
★ No chemical fragrance
★ Water-based
★ Customized serums for 10 skin problems
★ Visible results in just 10 days
★ Dermatologist-tested
★ Color therapy from colorful bottles
★ Made in Japan

About the color therapy point, I think color therapy actually works, or at least to me! In daily life, I enjoy making my possessions/surroundings colorful and pretty, because that makes me happier...for some reason. I'm a very visual person, when I do note-taking I need to have colorful headlines or different colors to highlight different things, or I won't pay much attention to it! Colorful or aesthetically pleasing things make me happy and give me a greater sense of well-being ♥

V 10 Plus stands for Variety 10 Plus, because there are 10 varieties of serums, which are can be supplements to any skincare regime. There are 10 varieties of serums in the product lineup:
♥ PYCNOGENOL (red) - for anti-oxidation. Contains pine bark extract from Bordeaux.
♥ AMINO (orange) - for treating dryness and roughness. Contains 8 amino acids.
♥ VITAMIN C (yellow) - for pimples and pores
♥ COLLAGEN (light green) - for wrinkles and elasticity. Contains marine collagen from sea bream scale.
♥ CERAMIDE (dark green) - for dry and sensitive skin. Contains vegetable ceramide from rice polishings.
♥ LICORICE (dark blue) - for irritation and inflammation. Contains licorice from a pea family plant.
♥ HYALURONIC ACID (light blue) - for hydration. Contains sodium hyaluronate.
♥ PLACENTA (purple) - for whitening
♥ VITAMIN A (pink) - for eye area
♥ BIO CELL (peach) - for DNA repair. Contains 8 active ingredients, 2 of which are Nobel Prize ingredients (EGF and Fullerene).

A "Consultation Sheet" to identify your skin concerns and to determine which serum is most suitable for you.

V 10 Plus' #1 bestselling serum, the Hyaluronic Acid Serum. It's non-sticky and is very easily absorbed into the skin, leaving it hydrated. Comes in a squeeze-dropper bottle, and you only need three drops for each use. I must say that I like this product, it really rehydrated some dry patches on my cheeks. After it's absorbed into the skin, the next step of skincare goes on with no problems either, so the whole supplement concept totally works. I use it in the morning before sunblock and BB cream/foundation.

I use very little skincare products, currently I only have a night routine - Lancôme's Advanced Génifique and Lancôme's Visionnaire. Every three days I'll do a sheet mask. Twice a week I'll do a wash-off clay mask (Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Ash). Sometimes I'll use SKII's Facial Treatment Essence as a toner, or soak a mask sheet with it and mask.

Directions: Before using any other skincare, apply three drops all over face and neck, morning and night.

Ingredients: Water, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Lysolecithin, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Lactate.

Other products in their skincare lineup
Back row: Brightening Cleanser, Okinawa Deep Sea Water Mask, Cleansing Ceramide Gel
Middle row: Water Base Peeling, 5 in 1 White Gel
Front row: Water Base Sun Block SPF 40/PA+++

There's also a Vitamin C Night Cream and Brightening Serum.

The Water Base Peeling is a peeling gel containing rice bran extracts and seaweed extracts to effectively remove dead skin cells without harsh scrubbing. It's suitable for all skin types, even acne-plagued and sensitive skin. Gets rid of dead skin quite effectively, revealing smooth and soft skin. And since it's water-based, there's no tight/stripped feeling.

However, the left side of my face broke out very horribly after using this, so I stopped using it. First time I've ever broken out from something, and I'm still waiting for the scars to disappear :/ It was fine for a friend with oily skin though, maybe it's too much for normal to dry skin?

Directions: Take an appropriate amount and spread onto cleansed and dry skin. Leave for 5 seconds. Gently massage with finger tips in circular motions. After a while, dead skin cells in the form of tiny flakes with appear. Rinse flakes off thoroughly with water.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Acrylates, Dicocodimonium chloride, Steartrimonium bromide, Algae extract, Rice bran extract, Butylene glycol, Isopropyl alcohol, Phenoxyethanol.

The event was held at Spa Symphony. Ceilings of the spa rooms. To create the feeling as if you're relaxing under trees, very pretty!
