Gmarket Tips 3 - Tracking your items ♥

For people who are hoping to receive their items by a certain date, or for people who wonder where their items are after they've placed their order, or for people who are just anxious and can't wait for their items to arrive, you can track (or stalk) your items online! There are tracking services available for almost all stages of shipping and delivery, from once the item is about to leave the seller till the item reaches your doorstep!

There are three main tracking systems,
Domestic Tracking (Korea) - to track from seller to Gmarket HQ,
EMS Tracking (Korea) - to track from Gmarket to your country, and
EMS Tracking (in your country) - to track from processing center in your country to YOU!
In this post, the example for last part is specific to Singapore, but your country should have it too, you could try to find out the website (:

DOMESTIC TRACKING
To check to status of your items in Korea, go to My Gmarket>>Shopping List>>Recent Order. You should be able to see your order and each item in the order, with one of 4 statuses beside it: On Request, Expected Delivery Date, Domestic On Delivery or Domestic Delivered.

What the statuses mean...
On Request :
As the title implies, your item is on request. The seller has not shipped it out yet, and there's no indication when your item will be shipped out. At this status, all you can do is wait ^^ The seller with then either 1) "acknowledge" and make preparations to ship it out, thereby changing the status to "Expected Delivery Date :2011-xx-xx", or 2) the seller will just ship it out, where the status will change to "Domestic On Delivery". This status is the most vexing because you really can only/just have to wait, and have no way of knowing if the seller will ship today, tomorrow or one week later! :(

Expected Delivery Date : 2011-xx-xx :
This is sort of an indication given by the seller that he/she will send out the item by the given date. Not all sellers will put this status, some skip directly from "On Request" to "Domestic on Delivery". With this status you''ll be a bit more assured as at least you know your item will be sent out (usually/most of the time) by the given date

Domestic On Delivery :
Item has been shipped out by seller, and is on its way to the Gmarket HQ/warehouse. Once item reaches this status, a little green button with the word "Tracking" will appear. You can click this, and a popup will appear. This tracking is provided by the courier/delivery company that the seller used.

On the popup detailed statuses will be listed, and depending on which courier company, they can even list the exact time of activity, where the item is, which office/terminal it is currently passing through. It's all in Korean though! But if you see 배송완료/배달완료 on the list of statuses on the popup, it means that your item has reached Gmarket HQ. This tracking is a more "real-time" tracking than the one provided on the Gmarket page, and is usually a few hours more updated. You can track your items in detail with it if you really wanna know where your item is hehe ^^

Domestic Delivered :
Item has reached Gmarket HQ. Gmarket will then wait for all the items in the order to be delivered, then they'll consolidate it and ship it overseas. Upon shipping it overseas, Gmarket will provide you with an EMS tracking number.

EMS TRACKING (KOREA)
To check the EMS tracking number, go to My Gmarket>>Shopping List>>Overseas Order. At the right-most column there'll be a green "Tracking" button. Click it and a popup will appear. The popup shows the status of your EMS package after Gmarket has shipped it out.

For EMS, the order of statuses (for packages to Singapore) is:
>> Posting/Collection
>> Arrival at outward office of exchange
>> Departure from outward office of exchange
>> Handed over to air carrier
>> Received by air carrier
>> Departure from airport
>> Arrival at destination airport
>> Delivered to destination airport
>> Arrival at inward office of exchange
>> Final delivery

Actually, once the pacakge has reached "Arrival at destination airport" you could track the item at the website of your country's EMS handler, if they have one. It's usually more up to date/real-time than the Korea one, because the EMS handler has been changed to the one in your country, and it's the handler in your country who's updating. For Singapore, the handler is Speedpost. Their updates are pretty much in real-time. However their processing is quite slow. I don't know if all countries have a website or whether they update quickly and in real-time.

For Japan, it's Japanpost.
For the Philippines, it's Philpost.
For Thailand, it's Thailandpost.
For USA, it's USPS.
For Vietnam, it's VNpost.
For Russia, it's Russianpost.
For Australia, it's Austaliapost.
For UK, it's Parcel Force.
You can use Google to check for your country's EMS handler

TRACKING IN SINGAPORE(or your country)
Once the item has landed in Singapore (or your country, I think the process should be similar?), you can go to Speedpost (or your local EMS handler) to check the status of the item. You can do this if you want to estimate when the package will reach you. Speedpost is updated first before the EMS page is updated. This is because once the package has landed in Singapore, the courier switches hands to Speedpost, so their systems are updated before the Korea side. Copy and paste/type your EMS number into the box and click track. You will be led to the following page:

There are 5 possible statuses on the Speedpost track and trace page: Processing at Sorting Center, With Delivery Courier, Missed Delivery, Unsuccessful Delivery or Delivered.

Processing at Sorting Center :
Package is at Speedpost sorting center, will be assigned to a delivery courier. For Gmarket orders, this status is usually updated between 2am~5am that day for packages that come in by the 900am (reach SG 1430pm)flight. For the packages that come in by the 2310pm (reach SG 430am) flight, status is usually updated by 12am later that day. Usually if the time is before 430am, the item will be delivered to you later that day (if it's Mon~Fri, sometimes Sat). If not the item will be delivered the next working day.

With Delivery Courier :
Package is on its way to you. Wait happily at home if you are, or make sure someone's at home to receive it!

Missed Delivery :
Either 1) you weren't at home or 2) delivery man had too many packages to deliver. For the first case you'll receive a slip of paper informing you of missed delivery; you can choose to ask the delivery man to come the following day or go to the nearest post office to collect yourself two days later. For the second case the delivery man will come again the following working day.

Unsuccessful Delivery :
Something like "Missed Delivery", I notice they use this status more and more. Some reasons I have encountered so far include: "Delivery attempted but no response", "Wrong sort/rcpt", "Heavy Delivery". The first case would be your fault for not being at home, and you'll get a delivery slip, but the latter 2 would be due to Speedpost's inefficiency/lack of manpower.
- "Wrong sort/rcpt" is basically saying they sorted the items wrongly and gave your package to the wrong delivery man. So the person delivering it doesn't cover your area, and at the end of the day they bring it back to the sorting center and they'll give it to another delivery guy (hopefully the correct one) the following day.
- "Heavy Delivery" is saying they had too much packages to deliver, and insufficient manpower so though the package was meant to be sent to you they couldn't deliver it, so they will delivery it to you at the next available delivery slot.

***I see no reason why we should have to encounter unsuccessful deliveries due to inefficiencies of the postal company. Doesn't EMS stand for EXPRESS MAIL SERVICE? Isn't the company's name SPEEDpost? At the end of the day, seeing the unsuccessful delivery status makes you wonder, where's the speed, where's the mail, and where's the service!***

Delivered :
Package has been received by you/someone in your house!

So that's it for tracking to your doorstep! Hope this'll help you quell any worries of where your packages/items are. Now you know how to track them each and every step of the way~ :D
--------------------------------------------

start rant// And while on the topic of delivery, for Singpost's Registered Mail tracking there's this annoying status "Held on hand". Basically it's the same as "Heavy Delivery", the delivery person didn't have time to deliver it and so held it on hand.

Someone explain to me how this can happen two working days in a row? And I think it would have happened for a third day if I hadn't been able to catch a delivery woman that evening and ask her how Registered Mail is handled. She said she didn't handle Registered Mail, didn't answer my questions and gave me a number to call.

I called the number the following day, and they said they'd call me back in 10min after checking the status...but they called 1.5hours later. Then they said that my package would be delivered between 130~2pm. I waited till 230+pm before it finally came. And when I finally did get my package item, it was delivered by the very woman who said she didn't handle Registered Mail?

I conclude that their staff have been well-trained to play the roundabout game and make you believe there's nothing you can do but wait :/ I now have very little faith in Singpost. //end rant

  1. Hey Kris!

My item's GMarket status has been "On Request" for so long, I'm sick of waiting! :[ What do I do to expedite the process or is there any way to find out when the seller will ship it out?

Sorry to hear of your agonizing wait, I hate it when that happens too! You could try inquiring to the seller (click the "inquiry" button on the item page, it's below the options, in the minishop/about seller box!). Like ask them when they'll ship or if they can send it by some date or whatever you want to ask?

Since your item's still on request, probably the seller still has intentions to send it, cos otherwise the Gmarket overseas system automatically cancels for you if they do not hear from the seller for a long time.

If you do not want to wait anymore, you could apply to cancel the item, and the amount will be refunded to cash balance/credit card without extra charges. (I don't know about PayPal, I've only ever used VISA or cash balance to pay for Gmarket ^^)

    Hope that helps!

  4. I get really impatient with Singpost as their online updates are not done in real time. Usually a 3-4 hr delay. Plus, I've often gotten 'Out for delivery' status...only for it to be changed to 'Failed delivery' half an hour later.
Then I'll be making frantic calls. Sometimes it's a system mistake and they reassure me that I will be getting my package today. However, there have been times where they assured me and I waited..and waited..and waited...and nothing.

I try not to lose my temper at my mailman as he's a nice guy..but it's still SOOOOOO frustrating! If only Gmarket allowed other services like DHL or Fedex. -_-

I am expecting 3 packages by next week. Fingers crossed that my packages don't get delayed!

Sorry to hear about your bad experiences with SingPost! :(

So far all my EMS packages have been received within a "decent" time frame and the online updates have always been updated within 15min real time. However I've had lots of problems with SingPost for their local registered article deliveries...so slow and inefficient! And even after calling they don't do or say anything to reassure me -.-

Hope you get your parcels on time!

  6. hello, i recently ordered something from g-market and although the delivery status says "delivered to", i have not received the item yet. I want to try to trace the item at the speedpost website. This is my first time ordering something online but i don't know what is EMS number and where i can find the number? PLEASE HELP

    ReplyDelete
  7. @ Anonymous ♥

You can find your package's EMS number by clicking on the "My Gmarket" tab, followed Shopping List>>Overseas Order

By the way, where do you see the "delivered to" status? If you mean "domestic delivered" then it means the item has been delivered to Gmarket's HQ in Seoul (not you), where they'll wait for all your items to reach, consolidate, ship to your country and issue a EMS tracking number.

If Gmarket has shipped your package overseas, there'll be a little pink/red button with the words "on overseas delivery" and a green button with "tracking" in the overseas orders tab. If not, it means they're still waiting for your individual items to arrive before they can ship overseas.

You can only check on the Speedpost website if the package has reached Singapore, if not you have to check the KoreaPost site.

I'm not sure if that's what your question was ^^ hope that helps!

  8. hello kris,
thanks for replying me so fast :)
it's at my gmarket tab--> shopping list and the page will show you the cart no., item, qty, payment, status, remarks. And under my status, it says delivered.
I got my package's EMS tracking number. I tried tracking it at speedpost but it says that the item is either Not Found or its status is Not Available at this moment.

    ReplyDelete
  9. @ Anonymous ♥

Hmm, by the way, are you talking about gmarket.com.SG or gmarket.co.KR? (Cos I noticed you mentioned cart no. and status, the KR site doesn't have these while the SG site does ^^) All the stuff I wrote about is about the Korea one. Not too sure about the SG one ^^

Is your number an EMS number, (EM123456789KR), or a Registered mail number, (RR123456789SG)?

If it's EMS try checking the status on the KoreaPost page? If the item has not reached the Speedpost processing center, keying the EMS number on the Speedpost page won't yield any item ^^ However if the KoreaPost page says it's reached SG (arrived at destination airport) then you can start checking the Speedpost site the following morning (:

If it's Registered you can check that on the Singpost website (:

    Hope that helps!

  10. -annoyed with singpost-

I just realized one of my 3 shipments was shipped via dpd. The realization hit me with a big *groan*...if that's possible...

one shipment has been on 'domestic completed' for 2 days already and another is awaiting delivery of ONE item before it changes to 'domestic completed' but that one item has been 'on delivery' for 2 days as well.

    *cries*

Just felt like i needed to rant and whine to someone. But all will be forgiven when i get my packages. Thank god singapore's mail system is somewhat reliable even though it may be inefficient sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  11. @ Anonymous ♥

At least the item's on it's way! Better than the agonizing wait of when everything in an order has arrived except for 1 that's still "on request"!

You can do combined shipment for the 2 if the system still lets you, you'll save on the base charge of 10,600won (:

I don't like weekends cos they make the wait even longer! But receiving the parcels is sooo gratifying! :D

  12. It has been more than a week! item landed at destination airport(singapore) in 30march. now item is still not trackable on speedpost. what is wrong?
stupid speedpost just keep saying they never receive and can't do anything.

    help!

    ReplyDelete
  13. @ Anonymous ♥

Try contacting Gmarket after a week has passed from 30march? Singapore customs doesn't take that long! (Is it a super huge order?) Usually Gmarket'll look it up for you, just give them the details of the EMS number and whatnot.

Since it has been delivered to the destination airport, if you're not able to trace it on the SpeedPost website yet, maybe it's stuck there (at the airport) and hasn't been handed over to SpeedPost yet?

The longest time my package has been stuck between delivered to destination airport and processing at SpeedPost was only 2~3 days, so a week is really really long!

So try contacting Gmarket (customer service inquiry or facebook page) or the Korean EMS company! Don't email Gmarket cos they don't really reply emails. The customer service enquiry form'll usually be answered by the next working day!

I hope you get your package!

  14. Anonymous, have u received your package? I'm facing the same problem too. Why is it that buying from Gmarket will have such issues?! I shop from ebay, taiwan eshops, and even American brands online but the only time i face such nonsense is when I buy from Gmarket Korea and seems like i'm not the only one.

  15. the speedpost stuff were really unfriendly, kept telling me they haven't received and even yelled shucks at me when i tried to tell them item has landed on flight blabla a week ago. finally the manager asked someone to go down and trace at the airport and delivered after more than a week. now i have another order that just came in yesterday so i don't know when speedpost will ever get it from the airport. sighs. did i do something wrong? why am i the only one experiencing this. it's not a very large order.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ Anonymous ♥

What a bad experience! :( As a courier company it's their job to account for all parcels that are supposed to go through them, so why didn't they receive it properly when the package first arrived? And as a company in the service industry, they should at least employ courtesy when speaking to customers.

Be firm with them and don't back down, I think they're kind of used to customers calling in and asking so they've built up a "defence" ^^

I have a package shipped via EMS from Japan, it left Japan on 20/4 and up till now, no updates on JP site and not trackable on SG site. Don't know if it really hasn't reached or if SG updates delayed due to PH :/ But even then, package should have reached SG by 21/4 since flights are only 7hours? Why so unreliable?

I hope you get you other parcel! Give it a few days after the weekend since Speedpost doesn't work/update on PH and weekends -.-

  20. @Jessica ♥

Since your expected delivery date is 2011-04-23, I assume you placed your order on 16th Apr? Under the cancel/refund page, the default search period is "1 week", have you tried clicking the "1 month" tab? It should be there, cos even completed orders should show up ^^

  21. Hi Kris,

my ems shipping departed from incheon airport this morning at 9am, it's supposed to reach changi airport at 2+pm today. i checked and there's no delay with the flight. however my item is not updated, it did not say it reached singapore. the latest is only "departed from incheon". have you encountered this before?

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Anonymous ♥

Yepp, sometimes that happens. Usually updates after reaching SG is delayed. But since it got on the flight, and the flight definitely reached SG (or you'll read about a crash in the papers tmr), so so did your package. Try the Korean site, (After keying in the number click the box to the left of "English") If it's not there try again tomorrow morning. Or just try Speedpost site after 2am/tomorrow morning (: It's not a Public Holiday so there shouldn't be any delays.

  23. hi kris, i have ordered something from gmarket singapore on monday. the korean seller replied on tuesday that he/she will ship it out on wednesday and it will take 2 weeks. but the seller did not ship it out on wed and it was left as "ship estimated april 27". then i tried to cancel the order today. the reason is because i rather ship with EMS than wait for 2 weeks. but it was held with "cancelling" status.

i called gmarket and they said need to wait for seller to confirm. however this seller seems to me missing or not checking her orders at all. i tried to find her on the gmarket korea website as she also sell her items there. so now im not sure if i can get a refund from the singapore site then i can order using EMS in korea which is faster. i need them to ship fast as the items are for mother's day.

i have also ordered 14 accessories from another korean seller on gmarket singapore, and after 2 weeks the items are still not received yet. there was no option to choose registered mail even though i emailed her that i would not mind paying extra for registered/courier.

sighs. these sellers just do not reply questions and go missing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Anonymous ♥

Sorry to hear about your bad experience :( I tend to stay away from Korean sellers that sell on Gmarket SG as most of the time they don't really know that much English, so when you ask them for information they never really answer your questions/do something else and it can get quite frustrating.

Hope everything works out for you...

  27. Hii~
It seems like you're really experienced with gmarkettt.. Can I ask O_O.. So I just ordered from gmarket and received my package (in the US).. But when I got it, only items from 2/3 sellers I ordered were here.. I looked at my status on gmarket, and realized the items from that one seller had been returned.. I guess that's fine.. But now I just want to be refunded for those items that I didn't get.. It didn't happened automatically, so I sent in an inquiry.. How long does it usually take for them to get back? It says that my inquiry was sent (when I first sent it) but when I go to "check my inquiries" I only see the inquiries I sent to sellers in the past.. Nothing about the one I sent to customer service.. I also emailed them just in case.. But yeah.. Through your experience, how long does it usually take for customer service to reply?

    Thanks for your time~

I've never experienced returns before^^ But if on the check inquiries list you do not see your inquiry to customer service having the "submitted" status, perhaps you could try sending it again?

From all the times I've experienced sending inquiries, they usually reply really quickly, within an hour/few hours if it's a business day.

They do not usually reply emails. Alternatively, you could try posting on their FB page, but most likely the guy will tell you to contact customer service!

You just have to wait for it to be delivered (: However, do make sure to check if you have to pay additional shipping costs after everything has arrived and Gmarket has weighed everything. Your items will not be sent overseas unless the difference is less than 3,000won!

Oh, I'm not too sure about Gmarket Singapore, sorry! But from what I know, basically yeah. After paying you just wait for it to come. If no one's at home the postman will leave a delivery notice at your doorstep. After which you can opt to go to the post office to collect or arrange for the postman to delivery another day!

The item will only be trackable on the SpeedPost site after it has been received at the SpeedPost Sorting Center, which usually happens by midnight/early morning after the items reaches the destination airport. Try again? Sometimes however it might get stuck at the airport for whatever reasons. If by some misfortune that happens, the only thing you can do is wait!^^

  37. Hi, I had an item that, on the EMS page, it said it was handed over to Air Craft Carrier on Friday, but there is nothing posted after that. How long does a parcel typically take to depart and get to the destination country? (It is being delivered to USA). Thank you xo

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Anonymous ♥
The departure from/arrival at airports follows the flight the parcel took. The time taken after that to get to your doorstep would depend on customs and speed of postal service.

Sometimes the EMS page does not always update real-time. After landing in USA, you could try tracking it on USPS instead of KoreaPost as on Gmarket, because after landing in USA, the people handling the parcel is the USA side, not the Korea side (:

Also, keep in mind that Sat & Sun are not business days so there might not be updates on those days.

Hey~ Sometimes Gmarket will automatically cancel your items if the seller doesn't reply or takes too long^^ Nothing much you can do about it! Or it could be that it's out of stock and the sellers cancelled, or stock won't come within a certain timeframe etc

I do not know how long you'll have to wait to receive it either^^

But usually, for most normal cases (no problems arising, no oos, not held up by customs etc), and depending on how many different sellers you order from, 2 weeks should be an average estimate, from the date of ordering.

  44. Is there anyway to track a flight to see if there was a delay or problem? Someone else and I both have the same dispatch number and both of us have had the problem where it hasn't been updated since "handed over to air craft carrier", which has been about five or six days now. I've checked the Korean EMS site and my local USPS site, and neither of them are updated any since then, and I was wondering if there was any way to find out why it has apparently been sitting on a plane for five days, or if I should just wait it out. Are you talking about Gmarket Korea or Gmarket Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia/Japan? Cos for all tracking numbers that Gmarket Korea gives, just clicking the green button for domestic delivery will lead you to the tracking page, and overseas delivery is only EMS, which begins with EM#####.
I do not know about Gmarket Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia/Japan.

    @Manda ♥
If they're not updating, there's really nothing you can do^^ Perhaps it's stuck at customs? Maybe you could wait for a week, and if it still hasn't arrived, inquire to Gmarket CS or USPS and state your EMS number.

    @Anonymous ♥
Hi, I'm not familiar with Gmarket SG, so I'm not sure what your options are. EMS can take up to a week, and keep in mind that last week had a PH so that may have slowed things down!^^

  54. Hi kris.I ordered items from gmarket KOR and the status becomes unsuccessful delivery under tracking yesterday! Reason given is Other... What is that supposed to mean?? will i be able to receive my items soon?

  55. Hi there, my items Guaranteed delivery date is suppose to be yesterday but I checked my status, it is at the sorting centre since Saturday!! Up till now there's no update! I'm so worried, when can I receive my items??

  56. @Liz ♥
Did you receive any slip of paper from Singpost at your doorstep? If not then it means they'll redeliver again. Tracking page at the SpeedPost? If you didn't get a piece of paper then it's probably due to something on their part, be it no time or wrong sorting.

    @Anonymous ♥
Try calling SpeedPost, quote your tracking number and the guaranteed delivery date. I've had an item that was stuck between the airport & sorting center for many days before and SpeedPost just kept saying it's not their problem. At least yours has reached the sorting center! Just wait a few days or call them up (:

  57. Hi thanks for your reply. Nope, i did not receive any slip of paper, there were people at home on the day of "unsuccessful delivery". May I know around when will they redeliver again? I tracked at SpeedPost but it just said Unsuccessful delivery and nothing else :(

  58. @Liz
I do not work for them so I do not know. Usually they will reattempt on the next working day, but the time of delivery is different for different locations. You could try checking the SpeedPost site in the morning (maybe after 9am) and see if there's the status "with delivery courier". At least then you'll know it's on the way.

  59. Hello Kris,

so glad i found ur site!!! it makes ordering from gmarket much easier!
There are a few items of mine that's on request for around a week and there's no news from the sellers :( Is that normal? How long will it pass before Gmarket cancels for u?

i would like to inquire with the sellers but i'm afraid they don't understand english.

Do they ship order by order? is it possible to add items and combine shipping from gmarket with different orders?

    sanicia

    ReplyDelete
  60. @sanicia ♥
Hi~ (: Yeah, sometimes items do take long! Is there an expected delivery date or is it still "on request"? Gmarket usually cancels if the seller does not respond in about week+?

You could try really simple or grammatically correct English. Cos if they do not understand they'd use an online translator ^^

Shipment is by orders, but you can combine shipping for up to 2 different orders. However, you can only do this if the items in the previous order have not all arrived at the Gmarket warehouse yet!

    HTHs!

  61. hello thanks for the fast reply! :D:D:D:D:D

some of the items changed to on delivery today while some are still on request hopefully and i've sent inquiries. hopefully they will reply soon :D
Maybe the slowness is due to Chuseok, maybe they're enjoying their holidays ;D

I have another question though. my last item reflect a very high price which is not the actual price when i press "shoppinglist" is it coz it reflects the shipping as well?

    sanicia

    ReplyDelete
  62. @sanicia ♥
It probably is^^ Chuseok is one of the major holidays in Korea and businesses usually don't operate for a couple of days (: Then there'll be a backlog once they resume operations so that might delay things a bit too! ><

Yepp, usually there'll be one item that has a really high price, which includes the shipping. To check, just add the estimated int'l shipping and the price of the item and see if it matches that higher price reflected (:

Gmarket does not explicitly give you the tracking number. They do not email you the tracking number either.
    - Click the green "tracking" button in the last column on the Gmarket-Shopping List-Overseas Order page.
    - A window will pop up, leading you to the tracking page of your item on KoreaPost.
    - Copy+Paste the EMS number you see there onto the SpeedPost page.

Apparently once you click on the 'Tracking' button, you have to click 'Cancel' when a window prompts you in korean words. & click okay the second time round when they say "Prevent dialogues blah blah blah". Then ta-da, you will be able to see your EMS tracking code number! That's how I found mine too. Hope it helps!

Hmmm, I've never experienced such a thing before, so I wouldn't know how to go about paying for it. But I'd think it's similar to paying for additional shipping...is there a "Pay" button or something? YGcash has not been available to be purchased for over a year now, you should be able to pay via credit card or PayPal, whichever way you paid for the original order.

Perhaps you could try tracking the EMS number on the Speedpost site? Cos after reaching Singapore, the Korea side takes a longer time to update ^^ And sometimes the packages can take a while at the airport, maybe to clear customs? Yepp you will get a refund if you cancel the items, provided they have not been sent out by the seller yet. There are no additional charges. You will however get a credit point deducted for each item cancelled. But if the items have been sent by the seller, I don't think you can cancel them!^^

  79. Hello Karisa,

I ordered 10 items to the States. Before I ordered I made sure that all 10 items were of international shipping, well, one item is still on request while all the other items have been delivered to gmarket. The item I was waiting for is from WIZIKOREA, and when I did more and more research on the company, and read more reviews concerned about why it has been a week and still is on request, I found out that in a customer review somebody asked if they deliver to the states and WIZIKOREA said they do not. Could this really be the case, if so why do they show up at all on the english site and under international shipping? Can I still cancel this order and order something else from another company and have it shipped with my current items? *wondering what I should do?* Thank you!

  80. Hii.. I ordered BB cream from korea to the netherlands..and it is now 8 december and when looking at the track and trace.. it has been on the status: Handed over to Air Carrier Incheon, since (probably) the 3rd of December.. What should I do, who should i contact? I cannot find any email adresses and calling isn't an option. My seller says she cannot do much than wait, but I feel that there is something not right. I have seen from others that the 'Handed over to air carrier'', ''Received by air carrier'', ''Departure from airport''.. is usually on the same day.. Im not expecting the same thing, but now its been 5 full days and more.. Could you tell me what to do?
    kind regards and thank you

  81. @Clavi ♥
Some sellers may do selective international shipping, ie they ship to some countries but not to others, so they're still listed as being able to ship internationally.

Yes, as long as the seller has not sent out the item, you can still cancel it. You will be refunded.

You can order other things from other sellers/companies, and have them shipped together by combining shipping. However you can only do combined shipping for 2 orders, if the 1st order has not been weighed by Gmarket HQ yet.

My suggestion is to do the 2 steps within a short time frame of each other, because once you cancel your wizikorea item, everything else from that order has already reached the Gmarket warehouse and they can weigh/ship it any time, unless you have your extra order and chose to combine shipping. Then they'll have to wait for those items to come before weighing and sending everything together *combined*.

    Hope that helps!

Yes, that is strange...usually it would be "Received by air carrier" around 30min after "Handed over to air carrier"...

There is a email contact form for EMS related problems on KoreaPost here, however they say you should send it only after a week after your item was shipped out. Fields with the red "+" must be filled out.

Or try contacting the postal service in the Netherlands to ask whether they have received the EMS package? I think the EMS company in the Netherlands is PostNL

I hope you find out what happened to your package!

  86. Hi Karisa,

Thank you for an informative and useful blog!

I am trying to buy skincare pdts direct from Gmarket Korea
but it seems there is no option for registered airmail, only EMS.

No choice, I bgt from a seller on SG Gmarket.

The parcel came in a gmarket.co.kr box
and it was via REGISTERED AIRMAIL!!

I assume the seller had taken my order
    and then ordered from gmarket.co.kr
    which explains the gmarket box.

Any idea how the seller pulled that off?
coz EMS is only delivery option.

Possible that EMS = Registered Airmail?
** dun think so though **

Thank you in advance for your time
and looking fwd to your reply ^-^

If it has not been sent out yet (no EMS number/still on domestic delivery/waiting for items to arrive) perhaps you could contact Gmarket customer service and request that they hold onto you package and send it on a later date?

If it has been sent out and you have the EMS number, perhaps you could contact your local post office/post company and request that they hold the package for you/not deliver to your home yet!

Gmarket Korea ships overseas only via EMS. Perhaps your seller lives in Korea, bought from Gmarket Korea and shipped it to you via registered airmail?

Or perhaps your seller was only reusing the Gmarket Korea boxes?

Or perhaps the Korean seller has a Gmarket SG shop as well?

I don't know how much registered airmail costs, but Gmarket Korea's EMS rates are actually really cheap compared to other countries!

  89. Hi Karisa
I just see in one of your comments that Gmarket Korea only ships overseas via EMS.
I have bought my product on Ebay and my parcel is also not through EMS but is Registered Item (tracking number starts with RR). Do you think this is allright?
Soo anxious for my package to arrive (status is still the same since the 3rd of december :((( )

    ReplyDelete
  90. @tamar

Gmarket Korea is not Ebay, therefore they may have different shipping methods. There are different shipping methods available from Korea to overseas, but Gmarket Korea only offers EMS.

EMS stands for Express Mail Service, therefore the speed of delivery is quick (usually less than a week).

Registered Airmail is regular airmail, so the speed is slower and may take up to a few weeks depending on country/customs :) And for registered airmail the statuses are usually updated only until it leaves the country...

  94. Hi Kris, I found your blog when I'm surfing for help en google.
I order to calendars in Gmarket to different addresses in the same country, the first order said "Delivered completed" (yesterday) and I paid for shipping additional payment, and the second order just stay in "Domestic delivered" since 23th Dic. and doesn't appear to pay additional shipping, what does mean? Why the first order have already delivered if I orderes the two calendars in the same day?
Maybe I'm acting exaggeratedly because happened 2 days ago but it's the first time that I buy in that webpage and I afraid of lose my money.

*Can't see the image* Because they are different orders, the statuses can be different. "Delivery completed" means the Gmarket staff have checked/confirmed that all the items for that order has arrived and are packed/ready to be shipped. Also, I guess since it was the Xmas season, there were a lot of orders and a buildup of things to be done^^ And they do not work on weekends/public holidays I believe!

  96. Hi Karisa,,
I order some cosmetic stuffs from Gmarket Korea, and while other items are already in gmarket warehouse, some Skin79 items are on delivery. When i track it says "로 물품이 인계되지". When i translated it with all i might, it means the courier service does not take over the goods. So, what should I do?As I have to pay the delivery fees 2500 when i placed my order, am i going to lose 2500 + the return delivery 2500 = 5000 won ? I have no idea what to do. I really need other items actually... I tried to send an inquiry to the seller in korean ( online translator ofcourse) and in English too. They didn't reply. It has been 3 days that the tracking system is showing that message. thanks

  97. Just want to send you my BIG THANKS for making the most comprehensive gmarket help post! Great work! =D

    ReplyDelete
  98. @goddess ♥
Hmm, I've never experienced this before, so I think you should try the Gmarket customer service, cos other than helping you press the seller for the whereabouts of your items, they can help act as your translator as well :) And I think the Korean sellers are more likely to react when it's the Gmarket customer service people "pushing" them to do something...^^

And since it's not your fault regarding the delivery/failure of delivery, in the event that the items were not sent/need to be resent, you should not be made to pay for the extra delivery charges. If the item was not sent, most likely you'd be refunded (item cost + 2,500delivery cost), or the seller will resend, but you do not pay another 2,500won. Or perhaps it could just be that the tracking site is slow to be updated?

Unless you're referring to another Gmarket (SG, MY, ID, JP, etc), Gmarket.co.KR ships overseas *only* by EMS^^ I've have just one experience with Eurasia shipping, the updating is not very frequent/real-time, so your best bet is to wait 1~2weeks for delivery guy to show up at your doorstep^^ I remember the guy came reaaaally early, about 8:30am!! :O

    @EVONNE ♥
Hmmm, that is a weird number :/ actually, a normal number from Gmarket would be EMXXXXXXXXXKR, EM denoting EMS and KR denoting it was shipped from Korea...But if Gmarket's tracking says that the item has reached Singapore and is out for delivery, then it's probably not at the airport anymore. As far as I know, there is no "person-in-charge" at the airport for sorting parcels, as different companies use different airlines and have different speed requirements etc...

  104. Hi!

I deposited 40,000won to my Gaccount for my order which was worth 40,700won. I transferred only 40,000 won because I still had some cash (770won) on my account so I thought that the lacking 700won from the amount I transferred would be deducted from the 770won that was on my account already. But my order was not processed. After more than 3 hours, there were still no changes in the status of my order which was “Require Payment.”

So I cancelled my orders and ordered the same things again, this time it was only worth 40,100won because of the discounts. Again I transferred only 40,000won, thinking that the 100won would be deducted from the 770won that was already on my account. But again, my order was not processed.

So again, I transferred cash to my Gaccount. This time, I transferred the exact amount which was 40,100won. Only then was my order processed and the status was changed to “On-Pre-Request.”

Where did my 80,000won (40,000won x 2) go? It was clearly deducted from my bank account and was not added to my Gaccount.

I also emailed this to their customer service but i don't know when I will be able to get a reply from them. I wanted to call them, but unfortunately, Gmarket doesn't have a hotline. Do you know how i could get my money back? thanks :)

I cannot know where your 80,000won went, but I suggest you get into contact with someone from Gmarket ASAP.

They do not have a hotline, but they have a livechat service that's available 9am~6pm GMT+9.

But from what I've tried, the method of contact with a quickest response is sending an inquiry/message through the online form, or posting on their Facebook page .
